About Us
We started working as a clinic in 1992, founded by veterinarians Erhan Gökdağ and Meral Gökdağ. Even then, with our holistic view, we saw how important animal welfare is in treating disease, and we worked with specialist companies to bring new ideas on breeding, nutrition, housing and milking parlour conditions to local farmers.
We took our first step towards becoming an established business in 1996, when we became a limited company.
In May 1997 we moved to the clinic at the Jandarma junction, which would be our home for the next 25 years. From 2002 onwards we grew our team of vets and our equipment there and achieved many firsts. By attending congresses, seminars and training courses in Turkey and abroad to stay up to date, we were able to keep up with the latest developments in small animal practice, not only in Turkey but around the world.
As a result, Urlavet
-
took its first X-ray in 1997,
-
carried out its first ultrasound examination in 1998.
-
Veterinarian Erhan Gökdağ began practising acupuncture at this clinic in 1999.
-
In 2020 we founded a joint-stock company and began preparing the animal hospital, as a step towards our dream of offering better animal healthcare.
-
Construction of Urlavet Animal Hospital began in 2021, and since 16 May 2022 the hospital has been serving animal lovers, in Izmir and beyond.
You can find out how to reach our hospital from different parts of Izmir on our Izmir Animal Hospital page.
Why Urlavet?
Vision
To be an animal hospital that follows innovative practice in veterinary medicine, brings scientific developments into clinical practice and is a point of reference in its region for its patient-focused approach. With continuous training, advanced technology, complementary medicine and high-quality service, we aim to be a trusted, pioneering and sustainable centre for animal health.
Mission
Our mission at Urlavet Animal Hospital is to improve the quality of life of our animal friends using modern diagnostic and treatment methods in line with scientific and ethical veterinary principles; to offer services that prevent disease through preventive medicine; and to give owners reliable, transparent and accessible healthcare. With our 24/7 emergency service, multidisciplinary approach and constantly developing technology, we aim to give every patient individual and holistic care.
An expert team
As vets, we know that a diploma alone is not enough to be a good doctor, and we value lifelong learning.
At Urlavet this culture is kept alive through case discussions and training within the hospital, as well as congresses, seminars and courses. Among the most important qualities Urlavet looks for in the vets who join the team are a love of the profession, a wish to keep learning, and compassion.
Complementary medicine
Our hospital aims to treat the patient, not just the disease, and combines conventional and complementary medicine according to each patient’s needs.
Biological systems are able to repair themselves. Because they work in complex ways, they can be affected by internal and external factors and stop doing their job properly. An important feature of living things is how varied their ability to adapt is. This process is controlled by the autonomic systems, which keep the body in balance. Survival has nothing to do with an animal’s strength or how developed it is; it depends only on adapting to stresses and to the environment.
At our hospital we offer acupuncture, gold acupuncture, homeopathy, physiotherapy, laser therapy, osteopathy, Dorn-Breuss therapy, phytotherapy, PRP, ozone and stem cell therapy.
